You can talk about other distros here, but no MX bashing. You can email the developers of MX if you just want to say you dislike or hate MX.

I installed Debian 13.0 Xfce in VirtualBox today. Whiskermenu has Menulibre and Mugshot populated in the Commands tab but Menulibre and Mugshot are not even installed.
I just booted back into Deb13 XFCE and just like cal, you can install Menulibre and Mugshot to satisfy those shortcuts. I don't know why they would be left off the ISO.

I didn't realize I had to install a plugin.
Is it the same for Debian 12 XFCE? Maybe holdovers?
Yes. I don't think Debian touches Xfce at all but I could be wrong. The default plain vanilla is the top panel with Applicatons Menu and bottom panel configured as a dock and Adwaita theme and icons. I don't know about menulibre and mugshot missing.
xfce4-docklike-plugin (Docklike Taskbar that MX uses instead of Window Buttons) is in the Debian 13 repos. It wasn't in 11 and 12.
I added it and it seems to work the same as in MX except when I tried to pin Mousepad text editor for some reason the icon opens the settings and not the editor.

Debian probably just repackages it for distribution.

MX packaging team packaged XFCE 4.20 themselves to be compatible with MX23, sometime after the first point release of MX23.
...
It was MX-23.5 (January 2025) that started using Xfce 4.20 (vice 4.18).
Then I installed Linux Mint 22.2 Beta Xfce and was shocked to find that they are still on Xfce version 4.18.
I hope MX 25 does better than that.
Well, yes, since MX 25 is based on Trixie, we'll have the same XFCE. If 4.22 comes out in the next couple years, then we'll try and backport that for MX 25.
Everything that I can find says Mint 22.2 uses Ubuntu 24.04's XFCE 4.20.

This strange. When I installed my Debian 13 VM I let it erase and use the whole disk so I only have a root partition and no boot, efi or swap. I don't remember if the installer had swap options for a file. So I have no swap also there is no /etc/sysctl.conf and /etc/sysctl.d only has a readme file. So then I tried sysctl -a to look for the swappiness settings and got this.
