OP also is trying an older AVLinux based on MX 21 with xfce, instead of a current version.
MXPI = MX Package Installer
QSI = Quick System Info from menu
The MX Test repository is mostly backports; not the same as Debian testing

@nudiecrudi when installing which option do you choose for install?

do you do manual partitioning or you just give the entire disk to the OS?

op has avl21.3 on all his machines because is the best audio video os .
never had any trouble with it, installed on old and new computers i3 laptop, my old pc i3 and my new amd7 .
with this new avl 23 i have been trying to install it for over a year, but it have always had some quircks that stopped me. now i am trying it again to move on, but i am unable to install it to disk. it installs only on usb live and on the laptop. but i need it to be install on a portable ssd disk to be able to use on both machines.

I am still confused...what you are saying is that you have tried both manual partititoning and use the entire disk options?

because a while back, I ran into a similar issue with hp elitebook 8460p, on paper it had UEFI but practically, the UEFI was experimental...

so when I tried manual partitioning like I have always done, it didn't boot, I formatted the drive to GPT with both the live installer and gparted, tried many other tricks online, it didn't work...

to cut the long story short, the hard drive was formatted using DOS option and it worked like a charm...

so what I am going to say you should test out is to format your drive using the DOS option, you might have UEFI and all that but try the DOS option...

if only the DOS option doesn't work, try it again but this time also enable legacy boot... :crossfingers:
