I remember it taking a while after changing the repo before being able to check for updates again (right click updater icon, check for updates), with those locked messages.

As usually when something doesn't work as expected, I was checking it with "apt update" in CLI. But you're probably right, anyway. I believe it was something on my side, because it was complaining about a process... My attempts to update the repos might have conflicted with some process automatically started by the MX Repo Manager. And if my connection wasn't very good at that time and place (it wasn't), it might have taken a while before all was refreshed and back to normal.
I don't have any issues now, and that's the most important part. :-)
