are you using that 8821 WiFi ?

If not, then you might try removing it. ( MXPI )
and if you are using it, then possibly reinstall it and see how it goes (again using MXPI first I think. There is a manual method, but I would try the other first.)

the only thing that I can see with 8821 in is rtl8821cu. Is that what you mean? I tried uninstalling it anyway and it didn't make a different.

Yes sorry.

Lets also have you cleanup the apt cache using mx cleanup , reboot afterwards and then try your install again. If it still fails, please post the entire results .

Ok cleanup done and rebooted.

I tried installing QMMP and get the following:

When I try installing QMMP it doesn't install. When I try audacious, it installs, but I still get an error message.

So, using mxpi , go to the MX Test Repo tab and uninstall projectm-data 3.1.12

Then, back on the enabled repos tab, install projectm-data 3.1.7 and then that should let you then install libprojectm3

rtl8821ce-dkms
rtl8821cu-dkms
from your QSI, I dont believe you need either of those. I would uninstall both and then see how everything looks.

Thanks CharlesV. It's kind of sorted. I can install QMMP now but I still get an error. I can live with the error as long as it installs the programmes. The error is as follows:

Cool.. making progress :-)

You should be ok with just keeping them on board for now, and ignoring the messages.

As a rule of thumb you shouldn't manually uninstall DKMS modules for kernels that are still installed. ( unless you have a specific reason), however if you do want to remove them - please timeshift and then backup before doing it, but you should be able remove them with the following:

Code: Select all

sudo dkms remove rtl8821cu/5.4.1 --all
or

Code: Select all

sudo dkms remove rtl8821cu --all

( You may also have to do

Code: Select all

 sudo dkms remove rtl8821ce --all
But I dont believe you will. )

And if your good to go, please mark as solved.
