Removed the Solved flag due to accessing Help files in LibrOffice and ... they opened in Google Chrome when KDE Plasma opted browser indicates LibreWolf

It would be interesting to see if this event can be replicated by others

EDIT: attached an image trying to show a bit more detail on this

Maybe this. In addition to setting with Default Applications to Webbrowser LibreWolf,
do also add the "text/html"-mime related defaults:
Open terminal/konsole as normal user ( not as root) and run:

Code: Select all

gio mime text/html librewolf.desktop

Interesting!
Logged in as standard user on another computer > opened LO Writer > Help > LibreOffice Help and ... dialogue box appeared asking if I want to use Google Chrome SET as default browser AND send user stats and info back to google

Selected neither and LO Help opened in LibreWolf

Checked KDE Plasma setting and LibreWolf is set as default app.

The other computer did have Chrome set as default browser for a while - that setting was changed to LibreWolf.

Chrome may have asked if I want to open Help files but I cannot remember the dialogue box appearing apart from first use after install.
Interim conclusion:
1 - it seems Chrome is not respecting settings is KDE Plasma?
2 - it appears Chrome does not provide option to revise the setting to open help files as default browser?
and
3 - these options are already ticked in the dialogue box (added as part of EDIT)

EDIT:
Tried similar workflow on the original computer in a fresh standard user account and the Google Chrome dialogue box appeared.

FYI feedback: would have made swifter progress on this but Trigkey machine running SysV on kernel 6.2.9-4 does not like to resume from Hibernate
I will probably switch back to Systemd using same kernel just for ease of use.
Right then, here we go ... the previous post was made from Lenovo machine running MX21
When I went back to use Trigkey and (eventually mnaged it through Hibernate resume hiccups) Google Chrome and LibreWolf would not let me sign into my Google account: Not responding - not available
I uninstalled Chrome via MXPI and performed an "apt autoremove" on named libu2f-udev 1.1.10-3
Aim: reboot the Trigkey a few times to achieve consistency then re-install Chrome to see if it carries over "default" settings favoring Chrome

ps: return of the phantom mouse cursor again - a different one this time
