Booting worked for me when I used Easy2boot. The thing is that the snapshot needs a writeable media, so when running mx-snapshot, instead of saving the snapshot to /home/snapshot (in the first window), select a device or partition you can write to store the ISO snapshot for you.

1. Boot live-usb that was created with MX-live-usb-maker, with persistence. (Each time you reboot, make sure you enable persistence if you haven't saved that setting.)

2. Customize live-usb to the way you want it. You don't need to do this in all one step, but each time you shut down, saving persistence each time you shut down and booting again with persistence so you can continue customizing.

3. When the live-usb is the way you like it, use MX-Remaster CC to remaster your live USB. Then reboot.

As long as there's enough RAM and usable storage, snapshot works for me.
Results do vary when using different hw - some settings appear forgotten - but don't know (yet) why/which.

Keeping up with MX21beta/rc1 updates on modified ISO (no FF,LO; +netsurf...)
Not sure why Mark All Upgrades insisted on marking Pinned kernel package;
had to Fix Broken Packages (why no way to list which ones?),
then Mark for Upgrade one-by-one.
