mx-snapshot_21.6.02_amd64.deb missing packages

I wanted make a snapshot ISO to backup my friend's heavily customized Debian system and downloaded <mx-snapshot_21.6.02_amd64.deb> from Github.
However, it failed to install due to unmet dependencies:
- mx-iso-template
- mx-remaster

How can I fix this to make a working mx-snapshot installation file?
Or, perhaps is there an appimage for it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as long as it's focused on these two questions - i.e. suggesting Timeshift is not :)

I think there is a Flatpak and that is the preferred method on a non-MX system.

Sorry, can’t provide a link, posting from my phone.

Edit: I guess I was way off lol

He can't make the iso, not burn the live usb.
The appimage is for live usb maker.

You might have to wait for dolphin. Not sure MX snapshot can be used for other distro systems, but I recall DO saying he's managed it.

I've heard of people on the Debian forums adding the MX repo and installing it--apt got the extra packages from the MX repo--and made snapshots. In your case, you should be able to install the debs on Debian just by downloading them and using apt to install them.

Woo-hoo, smooth as silk on Bullseye - Thanks you so much Stevo!
Installed debs from your post in the following order:
1 - mx-iso-template
2 - antix-libs
3 - mx-remaster
and finally, mx-snapshot_21.6.02_amd64.deb

The only glitch was - once it started building the ISO it complained it cannot install mx-installer, but thanks to brilliant programming it recovered from the error and kept going.
Haven't tried burning it with Etcher to test the end result.
I chose "for distribution".
When I do that on MX, the resulting OS loses all my DE tweaks but lets me create new user - let's see if it preserves my configs on plain Debian.

If you want to keep your tweaks, you first have to copy them over to /etc/skel and then remaster, IIRC.

DO has a video tutorial on this. But it was for MX/antiX snapshots, not Debian Bulleye, of course.

you'll probably want to grab the installer as well, else you probably won't be able to install the system.

  • If you have MX / antiX (no matter live or installed): "(MX) Live Usb Maker"
  • Rufus on Windows
  • dd (or) cp on any Linux distro terminal.
:)

Ooh, let us know what happens no matter what, and much fire comes out!

Speaking of big explosions, how did I only learn yesterday of the "Tanis" fossil site in Montana, the only place found so far that has a fantastic deposit of dead creatures thrown there by the big Chicxulub KT impact's seiche waves! So cool (to geologists)! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanis_(fossil_site)

This must be the best kept secret of MX :) Thanks you so much buddy! I will definitely try this tomorow, - once I add the MX installer deb in the mix

Thank you so muc for the advice, I assume once I install the mx-installer deb, it will integrate itself into the mx-snapshot binary?
Or is this going to be part of the LUB?

the installer is just an app. if its present, snasphot should put a icon for it on the desktop of the snapshot iso when its made.

hmmm, looks like you don't need to remaster before running snapshot app. I got confused.

Just add your customisation configs from your /home to /etc/skel

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_L5loC9dd4

Watch the vid and adapt accordingly since here, dolphin is making a customised MATE snapshot from antiX base iso.

NB. In antiX, the snapshot app is called iso-snapshot.

It’s actually not MX specific ;)

The *X installer? No, that brings in everything that ends with X.

Sorry, had too much coffee this AM. There needs to be a respin for the overcaffeinated dubbed "FrantiX". Image
