Got the shot

I got vaccinated against Covid 19 on Friday Apr 9 with the Astrazeneca vaccine. Here are the side effects that I experienced:
nothing on the day of the injection but a really, really sore upper arm and general lethargy for the next two days.
Note: I started this thread as a place for folks to share info on the effects of the various vaccines available, but, not as a place to debate the merits of vaccines in general or specifically.

Pfizer - had the first shot, super tired the first night. 3 days later had terrible lower back pain all day, could barely move around. I hope that doesn't happen again with the 2nd shot, which is coming up this Saturday.

They're still prioritizing medical workers and first responders here so it looks like I won't be able to get mine for at least another two months or so.

Pfizer, first shot just felt like I got beaned with a fast ball to the shoulder. No other symptoms. Second shot put me on my tail for 36 hours. Flu like symptoms and extreme fatigue. My advice is not to plan anything the day following the second dose. Good luck everyone!

I got more reaction to the first one, but not more than a bit of pain in the arm, the second one I didn't feel it.
I do have great 5G reception now

No chances of getting a shot here (age restrictions) and do not even plan of getting it in the near future when available; given infections are skyrocketing everyday on the 2nd wave here; plan on keeping personal protections and hygiene on high priority.

Just had second shot of Pfizer; sore arm both times, and 24 hours of lethargy this time, but all fairly trivial.

Have had 2x Moderna. Deep sleep for 2 hrs after the first (may just be correlation), no reaction at all to the second.

I'm between the two Moderna shots. Didn't notice any reaction to the first shot other than a slightly sore are, but even then, only when I would think about it or press on the area. Scheduled for the second shot in less than two weeks. We'll see how that goes.

Pfizer, first and second (second on 12APR2021, about 44 hours ago).
First shot - a very sore arm, like I got punched or something. No other side-effects.
Second shot - arm very, very sore - felt like the nurse left the needle in my arm. Very sharp pain. No other side-effects

Ha ha, in those days there was real patchy and poor cellphone network. Inevitably Billy had to drop the phone, open his "windows" and yell to the people at the top of his voice to buy copies of his shiny windows.
Now he's retired and that cellphones are smart and catch real good 5G signal easily, he sends out loads of text to shutdown all windows and enjoy android on 5G (his company has released almost all apps on android now). Who needs those broken windows these days?

Got my second Pfizer shot this morning. Ouch, my arm hurts and is nearly useless, does not want to lift up, and lifting it over my head isn't really working. Nurse told me to expect a possible low-grade fever later today, said to take some ibuprofen if I felt feverish. I bought a bottle of ibuprofen and pre-loaded with a couple of tablets, as I can feel this is going to be a bit of a rough ride. One thing she told me that I had not heard before was to drink lots of fluids, so I've been doing that.

In the fluids category, I suggest beer (or two)...
Research has shown conclusively that its salutary effects far outweigh those of ibuprofin!

Wish I could but I've always hated the taste and smell of any alcoholic drinks. Gutting it out with some high quality H20.

I don't even have an idea when I can get mine. They're just starting the second round. Round 1 was for first-responders, medical workers, hospital staff and caregivers. Round 2 is for senior citizens, though I think children may also be getting vaccinated. They're doing those who are most vulnerable first, which is fine with me. The more other people are vaccinated the safer I am anyway. I suppose I'll be in the "general population" category, so maybe another month or two.

Nope. Vaccines do not prevent pathogen transmission, but allow one's immune system to defend against them. Don't let your guard down.

Herd immunity begs to differ. If the vast majority of a population is immune to a particular pathogen it can't spread and eventually dies out due to a lack of hosts (like smallpox) or it mutates to something no longer harmful to humans.
I still mask up whenever I go out of my gate, wear a face shield if going "out" out like to a mall rather than just in my own neighborhood, practice social distancing and wash my hands for 20 seconds a lot and don't plan to stop. There are those variations and mutations, plus this has taught us (or should have) that another new virus that we have no immunity to could come along any time just as medical scientists have been saying for decades. They even made a film about it in 1971: The Andromeda Strain.

This particular vaccine is of a different design though (mRNA type) so who knows whether herd immunity theory applies here. Maybe it does and maybe it doesn't (as many who are considered experts claim), but one thing is certain: viruses have this annoying habit of evolving.
A mask won't do much for you though, unless it's a good quality N95 or similar grade. A face shield will be useless in that sense. New viruses come and go, but there's no reason to become an agoraphobic or go excessive, though good hygiene should be maintained regardless.
As for social distancing: I'm quite good at that myself, and have been practicing for decades. I prefer staying at least 15 metres away from morons, though occasionally slip ups do occur.

Only two vaccines are RNA, Moderna and Pfizer. The rest are protein, viral vector, inactivated virus, etc.
https://www.philstar.com/lifestyle/heal ... de-effects. Any vaccine that prevents you from getting SARS-COV-2 will also prevent you from being able to spread it. It's airborne so it gets spread by coughing, sneezing and breathing on people at close range. If you don't have it because you're immune to it you can't spread it. It can't survive in your body long enough because your covid 19 antibodies kill it. If 94% of a population is immune the remaining 6% who can't be vaccinated for whatever reason are reasonably safe, and in time the virus will be eradicated.
Masks aren't so much to prevent getting sick as they're not that effective at that, they're more to keep our germs to ourselves should
we get sick and prevent spreading our diseases to others. They're akin to herd immunity: only effective if the vast majority wear them. I use the face shield because required by law when riding in any public transport and for entry into many businesses.
Anyway, this is getting off-topic. We're supposed to just be saying what vaccine we got and what side-effects if any we felt, not discussing the efficiency of particular ones or other anti-Covid 19 measures.

I agree with this comment by JayM. Unless you are an infectious disease doctor let us only say whether we are vaccinated and what the side effects were. And even if a doctor this is not the appropriate site to be discussing the technical aspects of the virus and vaccines.

You're all lucky.
I had to cancel my tomorrow appointment for the first injection (Pfiszer or Moderna).
Living at my mum's at the moment, she simply forbade me to get the jab, because she read on the internet I could be six times more infectious once vaccinated and therefore infect her...
Well I could still get the injection, but then I would have to leave the house.
I'm quite in an impasse.

Have you actually been to a doctor about this, or does your mother think doctors were created by Lucifer after he traded his soul for a double cheeseburger?
Go to a doctor and follow the doctor's advice, not blanket "vaccines are bad" and "just get the jab anyway" advice that's irresponsible, wreckless and potentially life-endangering.
Many people are reporting issues (not necessarily over here) such as fatigue, black-outs, blood clots, etc. You mentioned you have a pre-existing medical condition. A good medical practitioner will advise you about this; you don't want to end up with a worse situation than you already are in.

When I got the first shot four weeks ago (Moderna) I had no side effects. I felt good and went right back to work. But I had dose two on Wednesday and that night I had the chills and I was dizzy. Yesterday I was very sore (although it's hard to tell if it was the vaccines since I'm sore all the time anyway) and had more chills and a temp of 101.5. I'm feeling better today but will give it another day off before I go back to work. (I get on roofs and climb ladders and scaffolding so I need to make sure I'm not dizzy).
I've had a craving for a Surface Pro for awhile so I don't think it's related to the shots. But the craving always subsides when I see the price.

It's typical for the first shot to have little to no side effects (Pfizer or Moderna), with the second one getting a strong reaction. That's actually a good sign -- your body is reacting to the faux infection and is trying to fight it off, while generating antibodies against future infections. If you don't have a bit of an unpleasant reaction to the second shot, that's worrisome.

The doctor told me that not having an unpleasant reaction is nothing to worry about.
Yeah, maybe, but a true hypochondriac gets worried when he feels fine.

Got my 2nd shot of Pfizer vaccin last tuesday. Same as with the first shot, no side effects whatsoever - other than some soreness in the upper arm after a few hours. Yippie...

Got a single dose vaccine this week. Did a precausionary pause on my anti-inflammatory medication (and the stomach pill that comes with it) for just the day of the shot, after consulting both the orthopedic who prescribed it, and the doctor at the vaccination center.
Two side effects that don't go well together: Eager to start mingling with people again in a few weeks, but afraid I'll host a new mutation. Better a sore arm than this!

Finally got the second shot of AZ today. I feel fine right now, but if I get the sudden urge to start cheering for the Montreal Canadians, I'll report back.

I received the 2nd dose of the Astra Zennica vaccine last Friday (11 June). No side effects the following day unlike the first jab back in March when I felt like I had a very bad cold. I went to bed and slept it off. The 2nd one, nothing. I guess it was because I had anti-bodies from the first jab which meant that my immune system didn't need to fight it this time.

second pfizer shot on Saturday. Same reactions as the first one--just some minor soreness. I've heard that if one had already had the virus and recovered, then the first dose would act as the booster, but I really didn't experience much more than I would expect from any puncture.
I'm supposed to be free to go maskless indoors here in California two weeks after the second shot.

I got my first dose of Pfizer about 3 hours ago. Yay! So far just a very slight achiness at the injection site every so often when I move that arm in a certain way. Pretty much the same as any other vaccinations I've received, flu, pneumonia and rabies (a neighbor's dog bit me in January 2000 and even though the owner said he was vaccinated I decided to take no chances with rabies.) I haven't turned green or grown tentacles yet. Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!

Follow-up: arm was stiff and sore when I woke up this morning, so this is worse than flu shots etc. but just moving it around helps with the stiffness. I've felt worse, such as a few months ago when I managed to bruise a rib when carrying a heavy box. It's sore-ish but tolerable and sure beats getting sick. Other than that, no side-effects.

2nd shot (Moderna) on May 8. No symptoms from the first shot; after the 2nd shot, I didn't feel well for about a day, low-grade fever. Arm soreness, hardly worth mentioning. No way am I ready to go mask-less when I have to be around people, especially indoors, grocery shopping, etc. Still kinda trying to stay away from people; I've always tended to be a loner, anyway.

I got my second Phizer jab yesterday morning. My arm isn't nearly as sore as the first time but I have a slightly elevated temperature this morning, 36.9 (mine's usually 36.3 to 36.4) with very slight body achiness, sniffles and slight headache, I feel a bit crappy and I'm thirstier than usual. I expect it will go away by tomorrow or the next day. I hope so because I need to go out and get more medicine for Joshua (the pharmacy at the place where the vaccination center is didn't have any stock.)

Totally forgot. Got the second Moderna shot last Friday. Did give more issues but not much, slight fever on day 1, and went by a lot faster. I run the same normals, low 36s, mine went up to 37.4, I decided to revert to a tub of icecream to get the core down hehe.

Got my 1st dose on 1st of June, Covishield
We both husband and wife took it, though it's prescribed that only one should take and other one after 3 day.
But I think it will be a little fever, so let's both take
And.....
We got it in noon, around 12
Every thing okay, little sleeping feeling in afternoon
After dinner, all of sudden fever came to 2, very high
Severing and chill.. took paracetamol
Last for almost 2 days, then on 2nd day loose motions :)
On 3rd day every thing ok
But nothing happened to my wife..
She is in , I can't say the word in English for that.., not doubt but astonishing and unbelievable..
Now on August we will get 2nd dose, but this time I don't know whether we both take on one day or 3 days apart..
But I will say , what ever take the vaccine. Only side effects may be a little fever or drouziness
But check it injects into the muscle not in vains,
Even after vaccination, keep social distancing and hygiene
But never antisocial, :))

Any excuse to eat ice cream is a good one.

(BTW my temperature's already back to normal and I'm feeling better.)

I'm still not growing gills and am feeling totally cheated that I can't explore the nearby ocean easily.

I'm never getting a shot. Funny how 20yrs ago there was the beijing flu and nobody got a shot then. Heck I don't EVER remember even a flu shot but apparently the world is getting sicker, or is it dumber, I'm not sure yet.
