Thanks for the response. It's along the line of what I expected. The screen on that laptop is known to be problematic as you can see from this search:

https://www.google.com/search?q=HP+Pavi ... e&ie=UTF-8

Based on your description of initial life then nothing more on the laptop's screen and the results from the search, it's fair to say that the the screen is, for all intents and purposes, dead. You can continue to use the external monitor or follow one of the videos included in the search results to effect repairs.
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

Add

Code: Select all

i915.invert_brightness=1
in Boot Options at welcome screen, then go on booting.

(But if you mean you can reach the desktop and click "install" then it turns into a blank screen, that's something else. This is just for sometimes users confuse starting "live-session" and "installation" )

In case (and hopefully) that works, you can add that in boot options after installation and make it permanent, we'll tell how to if needed ...

Hello has done
Proplem only exists with the installation.
When choosing a different start it works.

What does that screen look like? Please take a picture of it and post it.

What does that mean, "choosing a different start"?

So, you mean, when you only start live-session (but not install) everything is fine.

Only when you click install it stops..

You can start installation from Terminal with sudo minstall

(and if it doesn't turn into black) post the output ...

No, if I start after installing the "Advanced Option".
When installing, I can only start with the monitor and finally "advanced option" (MX 19.2 paito feo, with Linux 4.19.0-9-amd64) and then the laptop screen works again.

I believe the OP is saying they need to use 4.19.0-9 for it to work.

Their Quick System Info provided at the beginning of the thread had Kernel: 4.19.0-10-amd64 x86_64 bits

@MX-Rick ... can you boot to where everything is working like you want and give us the Quick System Info?

If Deutsch is better for you to communicate, maybe this thread can be moved or start a thread in that forum.
