Whilst this issue with the screenshooter is solved, It still is limited in the behind the scenes, and other screen capture apps are also either limited or over complicated in other ways, so the search continues...

I'm finding things a bit back-to-front coming from w7, but w10 is not an option (its malware).

Specifically, "Ideal screen capture tool" for someone who wants to use a keyboard shortcut/hotkey and needs mouse cursor to be displayed.

I searched for a screenshot in which the mouse pointer is captured and found empirically this solution for my laptop (Lenovo T 470):
"AltGr + Print"
starts the screenshooter GUI in which you can choose "Capture the mouse pointer" and other things.
