Lots of interesting figures in that output if you zoom in...

It's from last night's Rick and Morty episode. Season 4, Ep. 2

Probably from a universe where AMD is dominant, Intel is the scrappy underdog, and Debian is still on a 3.2 kernel.

Hopefully it will be in time to prevent a Y292271025015 bug catastrophe!

Spoiler:
2^63 / 365.25 / 24 / 60 / 60 + 1970 (refinements welcome!)

My friends think I'm a mad scientist just because I use Linux.

There's nothing wrong with being a mad scientist. I once met a molecular biologist who wanted to genetically engineer food that glowed in the dark once cooked. That way, when you were walking home from a night out and it was dark, you could use your takeaway as a torch. Bet he uses Debian Sid.

he hasnt cleared out his windows partitions.

at first i thought he was just running from a hybrid iso, that explains the first one. but it is less likely if hes using grub.

you could end up with a setup like this running wubi in the days when that existed, or endless os-- they keep the "linux" partition on a file on the windows partition. technically you could do that with most gnu/linux distros.

I don't get it. On this monitor I can't see what is on the 4 screens in the picture.

You should also be able to click on the thumbnail to see the original picture I uploaded, then right-ciick it and "Save Image As..." Once it's on your machine, you can open it with your favorite image viewer and zoom in on the screens.

Well, mad scientists don't like spending a lot of time waiting for updates, windows to open, etc. They want to actually DO things, like take over the world...

Yes indeed. I'm not surprised that Rick uses Debian but I'm wondering why he's bothering with an NTFS partition and why he's not using a GUID partition table — msdos partition tables don't work with partitions that big. Or why the GRUB version is so old.

He seems to be booting with systemd though.

Which kernel is he running? I'm having trouble with my giant levers and DNA displays, I think the drivers are missing. Also, which command do I type to release the Super Soaker from the glass cabinet? I have a few plants that need watering.

I can click on the image (which goes to the original on the hosting site) then either "view image" in firefox or download it and look at it with nomacs but the original size/resolution of the image is such that I can't read the text and zooming just makes it the text blurry.
This is on a 17.3" 1600x900 106 dpi laptop display.
I don't know if this is normal or I have some problem.

I noticed that xfce desktop, lightdm and firefox all default to 96 dpi for some reason. I set lightdm and xfce Appearance to 106 dpi to match the actual display resolution so that documents are displayed as their actual size. Is it a bad idea to do that? (I discovered a long time ago that this doesn't work properly in Firefox).

I can get an image that is readable but I did not get the point either. I guess you have to be a mad scientist to "get it".

I'm not familiar with Rick. Does he always look kind of confused, or just when he's using Linux?

I posted the text from all the screens above.

OTOH, if you couldn't read the screens then maybe you didn't know this was the text from them.

Rick is a twisted, constantly somewhat drunk, parody version of Doc Brown from the "Back to the Future" movies.

The screen actually says he's using "Dubian 3.2", not Debian, but since he has access to an infinity of universes, he could be using a Linux where that's actually the name, and the 3.2 kernel is actually way more advanced than what we have now. That's also likely, since it's running on an AMD 128-bit processor...

He's always rather short-tempered, but right now, he's really angry because he's just discovered that someone else has been using his secret private restroom (as in "hidden on an unknown, unpopulated planet" private), and he's firing up Dubian to track down whoever it was.
