Program for Inserting Accented Characters

#1 Post by tb75252 »

I use MX Linux 23 Xfce.
Is there a program that I can install for using accented characters when I write something?
Microsoft Windows has a program called "Touch Keyboard" that installs in Windows' System Tray and that allows to insert accented characters in any kind of writing.
Looking for something similar.
Thanks.

If you activate the compose key in Keyboard - Layout, you can type them by pressing that compose key, then the letter, then the accent key (or those last two reversed).

So if that compose key is say right control, then ' then the e, makes é. Don't hold the compose key.

In LibreOffice Writer, I use 'Insert' ---> 'Special Character'. What's not obvious in this screen is that it scrolls to show all that a single font has to offer.

If the current font does not have the required character, this special screen allows changing the font to one that has the desired character.
