Mouse/touchpad settings not showing in Settings menu

#1 Post by tkay11 »

I am setting up my new MX linux (moving from Windows) and want to change the mouse button settings on my laptop to be left-handed, but it seems there is no "Mouse and Touchpad" setting in the "Application Menu > Settings >" Menu -- although this is recommended in the MX Manual.

I have searched the Tools menu, the applications and config files but found nothing in these of help. I have also searched the forums and the web without success.

I feel sure I am missing something in my ignorance, so would appreciate some guidance as to what to do.

My system info is:

@tkay11
When you post long tracts like your QSI (above) please encase them in code tags which will make them easier to read and navigate here in the forums. If you click on the pencil icon (edit) beside post #1, you can see how it's done.
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

@tkay11 I am not a fluxbox person, but my understanding is they reverse the mouse buttons. Try running the following in a terminal

2 button mouse

Code: Select all

xmodmap -e "pointer = 2 1"

3 button mouse try

Code: Select all

xmodmap -e "pointer = 3 2 1"

*QSI = Quick System Info from menu (Copy for Forum)
*MXPI = MX Package Installer
*Please check the solved checkbox on the post that solved it.

@j2mcgreg : Thanks for the suggestion. I went to edit and found that the code/uncode tags had somehow been applied. If it was you that did this, then many thanks. I hope it looks ok now.

@CharlesV : 321 worked! Thanks a lot! I've marked you post as solved.
