Update Frequency

#1 Post by RossH67 »

Hi Folks

I was hoping for some guidance on how to make the update frequency once per week, rather than the default, every day.

I'm running KDE and I know from v6.3, the option for update frequency is in Discover. In to settings, top right corner press 3 dots and choose "Configure Updates". When it's working that's easy to do. When I try it with MX KDE, I'm dropped at an undefined KDE settings screen.

But, I expect something else is controlling the update frequency in MX. I'd like to find out what that is and how I can set it.

Many thanks in advance.

While it may seem like updates are a daily occurrence, the frequency actually is 'as available'. What I suggest you do is to pick a day and time when you want to run the updates and ignore the update indicator the rest of the week or set up a chron job to do the same.
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

install

Code: Select all

Thank you both for your assistance. Installing kde-config-updates made Discover work as expected. Thank you very much!

Thank you for the question. We've added that package to our default install for our next release.

That's good news. I've played with KDE v6.3 on Fedora but it was still a little buggy at that stage. I prefer MX as a distro any day! Looking forward to the next major release.
