[SOLVED] Brother DCP-L2510D not recognized by Document Scanner

#1 Post by michaelbr »

This is a brand new MX 23.5 install, I installed the drivers on the Brother's website, Print setting can see it, but Document Scanner can't find it. Is there a better scanner for MX or it's just adjustment in Document Scanner? How can I troubleshoot it?

Can you run the scanner program through the terminal and then paste the output using code tags, command is

Code: Select all

simple-scan
Also, if it is connected to usb, please post the output of

Code: Select all

lsusb

You could try naps2. @CharlesV has recommended it to several folks who have had issues with Simple Scan.
https://www.naps2.com/
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

simple-scan did not give any output, it brought up GUI Document Scanner, and the same message as before, no scanner found.

this is the output of lsusb (the printer is connected through USB)

Code: Select all
