MMX 23-5 Vivaldi will not work

#1 Post by MikeComm »

Did a new install of MX ISO with Liquorix Kernel 6.12. Vivaldi installs by any methods I choose to use but will not start. There are no errors and I see nothing in the system logs.
I have used Vivaldi for years within all my MX systems experience. Anyone have any help, ideas or comments to sort this?

That's very strange. It's my default browser and it's working normally for me. Please open a terminal and start it there so we can see any error messages

Re: MMX 23-5 Vivaldi will not work  [Solved]

#5 Post by CharlesV »

From several threads online it appears there are two possible fixes for this.

1) Delete these files :

Code: Select all

 ~/.config/Vivaldi/SingletonCookie

~/.config/Vivaldi/SingletonLock

~/.config/Vivaldi/SingletonSocket

and
2) Start vivaldi from a command line with this flag:
--disable-gpu

If this second method works, then in VIvaldi disable Hardware Acceleration

Code: Select all

   1) Open Vivaldi and type the following in the address bar::
    vivaldi://flags/#disable-accelerated-2d-canvas

   2) Click on the Disable link below Accelerated 2D Canvas to disable hardware acceleration.

   3) Restart Vivaldi for the changes to take effect.

Thanks all.
Deleting the 3 files took care of the situation.
