Wheres cinnamon?
Re: Wheres cinnamon?
Linux Mint, including Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE), will have the latest version of the Cinnamon DE because the Linux Mint team are the developers of the Cinnamon DE.
The Mint repos can work in MX Linux, but you may get 'upgrades' to other packages that could cause you some trouble.
I would recommend learning apt pinning before going down that path.
I only played around with it in a live USB for a little while, then went back to Xfce as it still remains my favorite.

Re: Wheres cinnamon?
My Cinnamon respin https://sourceforge.net/projects/senpai ... -cinnamon/ has the current version 6.2.9 of Linux Mint, because it has added the official repository of LMDE that is compatible with MX-Linux 23.4, it has not given me any problem since 06/19/2024 that I created it, nor have reported me errors with the updates with those repositories.Akira wrote: Tue Dec 10, 2024 8:46 am Thank you.
Looks like its an old version and i wanted to try the newest 6.4, but i guess ill wait.
Cinnamon version 6.4 will not be released in Mint until the end of December, I guess it will take a little longer to be released in LMDE, but when it comes out it will be upgradable in my respin, or I will release an updated ISO.
Best regards
Re: Wheres cinnamon?

Please don't do this, it won't make your problem solved by complaining about it in other peoples' threads you dug up.

Re: Wheres cinnamon?
The MX Linux team already offers three office versions or window manager with integration, why go get elsewhere and not do with what already exists ?
Re: Wheres cinnamon?
Hi;
My Respin already has Cinnamon 6.4 included from LMDE repository, you can test it and give me constructive comments to improve it.
You have it in viewtopic.php?t=80941

Digging up? I beg your pardon? I got this link sent in my topic viewtopic.php?p=807144#p807144Eadwine Rose wrote: Sat Jan 25, 2025 10:31 am Please don't do this, it won't make your problem solved by complaining about it in other peoples' threads you dug up.
I read this topic and just add that i'm queuing in since there seems to be major problems with Cinamon for MX23 that are not recognised.

I pointed you to this thread because I was hoping that after reading it you would understand that it's more likely that you will get the latest nemo [file managers are tightly linked to the DE they are made for] in Senpai's Cinnamon respin than from MX packaging team.Pretty Vacant wrote: Sat Jan 25, 2025 11:38 pmDigging up? Cinnamon is Mint's baby so of course they will get it first.
MX packagers don't really package new versions of DE beyond what is in Debian Stable, except for XFCE because it's our flagship, and also because unlike KDE Plasma, it's not as tied to newer versions of the relevant toolkit (ie, Qt for Plasma desktop), which would conflict with what's in Debian Stable.

There is no such thing, that's the point that you seem to be missing. MX has 3 desktop variants, each of which is managed and overseen by a MX Dev. It does not offer a Cinnamon variant and there is no MX Dev interested in taking it on. End of story.Cinamon for MX23
