Debian Trixie to Plasma 6
Debian Trixie to Plasma 6
I tend to neglect my Trixie install but upgraded today. A lot of packages, a little time, and a reboot.
It's running Plasma 6 now and the upgrade actually went pretty smooth. Everything seems to work, no surprises, and very nice. I didn't even know the devs were working on it.
Plasma 6.2.3
KDE Frameworks 6.6.0
Qt 6.7.2

That's good to hear. I thought Debian was going to go with Plasma 5.27.11 in Trixie.

Yea, I figured they would stick with 5.27.11 for a while longer.

Bookwork is showing Plasma 5.27.5 but I do see that the Trixie packages for KDE has been updated from 5.27.11 to 6.2.3 since the last time I looked.Germ wrote: Tue Dec 03, 2024 4:39 pm Yea, I figured they would stick with 5.27.11 for a while longer.

Also looks like Trixie will have the 6.11.10 kernel.

Re: Debian Trixie to Plasma 6
Dang!
The 6.12 Kernel has the full Realtime (RT) capabilities baked in without any patches, simply a boot switch to turn it on... A pretty big milestone in the kernel world, hopefully it will become the default (not that it's a very big deal to update)

Re: Debian Trixie to Plasma 6
Is Trixie running on 6.6 Kernel? Or some other?
Re: Debian Trixie to Plasma 6
Plasma 6.2 might not be that problem free for Nvidia systems. Based on the posts on Manjaro forum.

There is a ways to go before Trixie freeze. No kernel version is set in stone.

That's true. The kernel maintainers still have 6.11/6.12 listed as stable and not longterm.
