Trying to install an app and added the required repo but when I run the first instruction (below) i get " Waiting for cache lock: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend. It is held by process 32378"

You can't have two people driving the same car, and you can't have two different people changing your system. One person might be installing software that depends on a library the other person is in the middle of removing. To avoid this, Debian uses locks: only one program can add or remove things at once. You can still add one thing and remove the other, but do it in serial, not in parallel.

All this error is saying is that there is already a process, like dpkg, apt, apt-get, nala, or something else, with PID 32378, that is making system changes. The easiest way to eliminate this warning is to reboot, but in most cases that isn't necessary. Just wait for whatever program that has PID 32378 to exit.
