Playmouth enigma

#1 Post by arianclem2 »

Hello everyone,

I would like to understand how Playmouth works on MX Linux. When I chose spinfinity Plymouth theme, I discovered that the "debian 12" writing remains even though I replaced the files header-image.png and keymap-render.png. How can I remove or replace that "debian 12" writing?

For context, I’m using an AMD Radeon computer where I have installed a multiboot Grub menu with Debian, Windows 11 and other Linux distros.

Any suggestions on how to fix these issues would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

You need to post the output from the QSI utility. The Quick System Info (QSI) utility is located in MX Tools and its output is automatically formatted for use here in the forum. Run the QSI utility, click “Copy for Forum” at the bottom and then just paste it here in your thread.
Forum Rules
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

There is another step if your attempting to replace your startup / shutdown. ( You can TEST the changes using MX Boot Options and Preview of the Splash theme ... but that doesnt 'apply' it )

You can either
a) Change the splash theme there in MX Options and then Click the Apply button, or
b) in a terminal run :

Code: Select all

sudo plymouth-set-default-theme -R spinfinity

As for the actual Image used... The default header-image.png is actually a symlink to the
/usr/share/plymouth/debian-logo.png

You can either change that actual image , or change the symlink.
*QSI = Quick System Info from menu (Copy for Forum)
*MXPI = MX Package Installer
*Please check the solved checkbox on the post that solved it.
*Linux -This is the way!
