Due to my new ISP using CGNAT the port redirection in the router does not function so I am looking at IPv6 addresses as my old TP-Link router actually supports it along with a firewall.
Now to my question, if I issue ifconfig on a Raspberry Pi in my network the results show three inet6 addresses. One starts fe80:: and bears no resemblance to the other two, which are similar but one is longer. Plus if I use a IPv4 to IPv6 converter I get a fourth address which is different to the other three. Apart from the address starting fe80:: all the others will allow an ssh connection.
Why would three different IPv6 addresses be valid yet only one IPv4 address work?
