Files gone missing for new user

#1 Post by Wal »

Hello I have probably forget something again, gettin old it seems, but:
I wanted to reinstall MX-23 Xfce and moved all my /home files to another partition on the old installation that was named xtra and was used as such.
Then I reinstalled MX to its former partition and used the old xtra-partition as home. I did NOT format it!
However thoose old 40 Gb of files are not visible to the new user allthough G :turtle: parted says theyre there. Sudo Thunar cant see them neither. What to do?

In disk manager you might be able to mount the partition and gain access to it.

Oh wait.. you're talking about home xtra now being reused. Question.. so upon installing you selected to use the old xtra as home. You did select to REuse it in the dropdown, right, so not reformat?

Ah preserve, yeah that is what I meant, sorry.

Folks in the know (not me ;) ) likely will also need the output (in code tags) of:

Code: Select all

lsblk -f
