Huge diff. between FileLight, Disk mgr and partition mgr

#1 Post by MarieSophie »

Hello,
After removing win10 from my disk, I no longer need D:\User\Documents
I moved all (mot of) the data on the NTFS partition to an external disk, so I can swipe the NTFS partition and keep a Linux-only disk
Before moving,
The partition is 641Gb and was about 85% full
CzKawKa and DetWinner allowed me to trim it down to 71%
I also applied it to my /home

Now I have 3 app gives me 2 different info
- KDE partition mgr tells me that the /dev/sda14 is 231,84GB used out of 641GB
- Disk mgr says the same, 641GB, 409,1 free
- FileFlight says something completely different (and more in line with what is expected) 1,4GB used out of 641GB, mainly trashcan and system files which couldn't be moved due to name length
How come such discrepancy ?
Is it safe to delete the partition as-is or should I investigate further ?

QSI please.
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

I understand the forum rule,
But I don't understand the need, my autism makes me bug when I don't understand something,
Like the remark from @askwerth about the repos, I don't see how this is related to the way Disk mgr vs FileFlight reads the partition usage ?
And the "don't reflect, just do it" is not an option, I mean it's like a wall to me.

The need: It is so we can better help you solve issues.

Without that we are guessing. We don't like guessing.

Autistic here as well, but sometimes the world isn't catered, and we'll have to just suck it up, like all members have to.
