Funny Spaces in Bash (KDE)

#1 Post by limotux »

Hi,
I just made a fresh install, KDE.
I did nothing but changed the display to 150% and increased the panel size a little as all fonts an icons were really tiny and hard to read for me.

Now I am having a funny spacing of words and display in Bash, the words are so far away from each other not as it is supposed to be.

How can I fix that?

What caused it. I did the above before but never had this issue.

P.S. I do not mind using command line if there is a command to get it back to normal as it should be.
Thanks in advance

You are not using monospace font in the terminal that's why those large space. To fix this goto setting in konsole>edit current profile >appearance in the bottom you will see fonts switch to a monospace font and it will be fixed

Thanks a lot @gimcrack
In Konsole->edit.... there is no "edit current profile.
Even when I get to current profile it is disabled and can't edit.

Does this give any clue?
What if I click the top button adjust font, show only monospace fonts and apply the changes? Would it affect anything in text writing, word processing... etc?

Yes, it would apply to everything, you need to change the settings in Konsole, Create a new profile, click on that New button, you cannot edit the default one.

Thank you very much @Adrian

I just reinstalled as I noticed I had some other issues (I don't know why) like some apps opening very slow.

Now I am trying to customize it a little as the fonts and icons are so tiny.

The only thing remaining I need to fix is the Application Menu, fonts and icons are too small.
I wonder how can I enlarge them a little.

I will appreciate your feedback.

Since this thread has been marked solved, you should start another thread for these issues an include your QSI.

HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

@limotux
if after creating a new profile when opening terminal the new profile is not active then goto Konsole setting > manage profiles, in that box the config~konsole > profiles and click on the new user made profile 'set as default' button.
