Is Discover used for updates in 23, or not?

#1 Post by Sparky »

I re-installed MX23, and now Discover shows up, or I should say down on the right. Are all updates done via it? Flatpaks, debs, mx software...etc...?

My understanding is that flatpaks are NOT updated through Discovery, however I am sure someone here will know how to help it along.

The rest, yes it appears to update all MX and debs, etc.
*QSI = Quick System Info from menu (Copy for Forum)
*MXPI = MX Package Installer
*Please check the solved checkbox on the post that solved it.
*Linux -This is the way!

From a quick search, it seems you can integrate flatpak software into discover with plasma-discover-backend-flatpak.

I googled it, but can't find a solution. Are there any advantages to using it? Otherwise I wont bother and do it manually. It even gives me a notice that updates are available.

plasma-discover-backend-flatpak is also in Debian released versions, not just Sid.

MXPI can also handle flatpaks.
MXPI = MX Package Installer
QSI = Quick System Info from menu
The MX Test repository is mostly backports; not the same as Debian testing

I didn't realize I posted the sid link. I meant the bookworm link. My screenshot in post #3 is from MXPI.
