[solved] MX KDE: No interaction keyboard/mouse interaction after connecting a second monitor to laptop

#1 Post by samuelgr »

Dear MX-folks,

I have a problem.
I'm running MX Linux (up to date) on a Lenovo X1 Yoga (3rd Gen). So far most things work like a charm.

Unfortunately if I connect an external monitor via HDMI while the system runs i can't interact with anything anymore in runtime 7.
- I can see the mouse moving, but even if I click or drag something, this doesn't get displayed (on both displays). Same applies for the keyboard.
- The system seems to run albeit not displaying any change. If I press Strg+Alt+Entf then two times left then enter the system reboots. But no change in display as long as I am in KDE Plasma
- I can easily change the runtime to level 2 and do stuff there.
- If I start the system with the HDMI monitor already connected, it works.
- If the system is started with the HDMI cable connected, then the cable is unplugged and plugged in afterwards. I see the problem described above.

I already looked in other forum posts for my problem, but didn't find similar behaviour. Maybe you can point me in a direction to get to where the problem lies.

Best regards
Samuel

Re: MX KDE: No interaction keyboard/mouse interaction after connecting a second monitor to laptop

#2 Post by CharlesV »

Welcome in!

I saw this on a Yoga X1 with MX21 and xfce, and it was resolved with a Liquorix kernel and in MX Tweak on the Other tab, changing
"Use intel driver instead of "modesetting" driver

I believe I was on a 6.4.x liquorix kernel, but the 6.5.x or 6.6.x are also running nicely on the Yoga's that I have installed on as well.
