Kaffeine dvb-t scan finds no channels

#1 Post by Chuck91 »

Hello, the dvb tuner card is seen by kaffeine as Zarlink ZL10353 DVB-T, but when i try to scan channels nothing is found. I tried to update the scanfile.dvb, i tried to make my own one with data (the guard interval of downloaded scanfile looked wrong to me), but no success. This is a pci card called on the box manhattan pci 3-in-1 tv tuner card, on linuxtv is wrote that zarlink sold part of its business and now is known as Intel® CE 6353 DVB-T too. Launching lspci nothing is wrote about a dvb-t card though, only something about a conexant multimedia controller (the card has video/audio inputs/outputs), could be some missing firmware?

kaffeine terminal output: https://pastebin.com/tv318kfB

lspci output: https://pastebin.com/kiaqzrTA

We are going to need your computer’s complete profile before we can proceed, so you need to post the output from the QSI utility. The Quick System Info (QSI) utility is located in MX Tools and its output is automatically formatted for use here in the forum. Run the QSI utility, click “Copy for Forum” at the bottom and then just paste it here in your thread.

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

That terminal output looks like a working card with no antenna (or a not good enough one) attached.

The card worked when i was using windows, antenna is connected. I tried more scanfile.dvb settings, doing kaffeine integrated auto scan (there is one for my country too) but just won't find anything. I just don't know what could be wrong.

LinuxTV.org has this to say about the zl10353
The QT1010 in this device has it's problems. If you get no or poor signal on Linux, that's "normal". You can try lowering the signal strength from your antenna, remove signal boosters and/or buy an attenuator. Or buy a device with better support.

Sorry, looking at USB listing of zl10353, not PCI.

lspci shows this card has a Conexant CX23880 DVB chipset.
At LinuxTV.org I see only one pci Zarlink card with that chipset family.
That entry indicates this option is needed cx88xx option card=42
So I would try:

Code: Select all

sudo rmmod cx88xx
sudo modprobe cx88xx card=42
and then open Kaffeine and try searching again.
If that works make it permanent by creating a cx88xx.conf file with this line

Code: Select all

cx88xx options card=42
and place it in /etc/modprobe.d

In that case, make that file in /etc/modprobe.d then reboot.
