Why should it "update QSI for the latest Snapshot", if that's not the snapshot you installed your distro from?operadude wrote: Mon Mar 04, 2024 7:20 am @asqwerth:
On my KDE and Fluxbox installs, the top of the QSI shows my Latest Snapshots:
For Fluxbox:
Snapshot created on: 20240216_1220
Distro: MX-23.2_x64 Libretto September 18 2023
For KDE:
Snapshot created on: 20240214_1402
Distro: MX-23.2_x64 Libretto October 13 2023
I have a much more recent Snapshot for Xfce. See my latest LUM.log for Xfce:
posting.php?mode=reply&t=79604#pr767830
That occured on: snapshot-20240212_1300
So, not sure why Xfce is not updating QSI for the latest Snapshot, whereas KDE & FLUX do.
Again, No Biggie, just curious...![]()

Again likely the string. If a string doesn’t match one of ours we don’t touch the line. So that people can customize without having there customizations wiped out.
It’s just text.

@asqwerth:
Not to appear too nit-picky, but that seems to be exactly what KDE and Fluxbox are doing in their respective QSIs-- I am seeing at the top of their QSIs, the latest snapshot-- not the one that was used for the install. You can see on their respective QSIs (which I have already posted), that for KDE & Fluxbox, the Snapshots are from 2024-02-14 and 2024-02-16. I installed both of those Distros long before that, as you can also see in their QSIs (September and October, 2023).
Again, just wondering why Xfce is not showing the latest Snapshot from 2024-02-12; whereas, both KDE & Fluxbox do show the most recent Snapshots.
Maybe that's the way ("uh-huh, uh-huh, I like it") that Xfce rolls...

Just Curious: Where does the Snapshot string (for inxi) reside?

Re: QSI on XFCE Slightly Off
Then the question is, what is the intention behind displaying "Snapshot created...." in the QSI? I had always assumed it was so that the forum helpers knew that the system in question had been created by a snapshot rather than an official iso.dolphin_oracle wrote: Mon Mar 04, 2024 8:23 am /etc/snapshot_created
the string is created by mx-snapshot. we don't touch that one at all during updates.
But if that is the case, displaying the date that the user last created a snapshot on that distro makes no sense.

@dolphin_oracle:
Really hope I'm not wasting folks' time, since this has been SO resolved for me by now....But...
I know that I did all of my installs (incl. KDE & Flux) with official ISOs, and NOT from Snapshots, even though for my KDE & Flux installs, it shows at the top of the QSI the latest snapshots from Feb., 2024.
I know I did all of my installs from the official MX ISOs, since I did them all on the same day, and setup my "rEFInd" to appropriately access them.
Anyway...I'm obviously procrastinating from my work!
So, maybe on KDE and Fluxbox, the "snapshot-created" is getting updated and imported to "inxi" ?
