KDE Connect won't work

#1 Post by DR77 »

KDE Connect cannot find any device on my network. If i look for listening ports with 'sudo netstat -tunelp' i don't see kdeconnect process, also i don't see kdeconnect daemon running in task manager. Anyone else having issue with KDE Connect?

KDE Connect when the MX 23 Uncomplicated Firewall is running blocks some apps incoming communication.

On the firewall open port range 1714-1764 UDP & TCP. There is a pre-configured rule to accomplish this.

See MX 23 User Manual section 4.5.1 for additional info.

Or you can disable the firewall if you're ok with that. Firewall has been turned on on MX23.

I don't think the firewall is the issue. On Ubuntu there is a process kdeconnectd running, which i don't have on MX Linux. For some reason KDE Connect daemon is not installed.

I reinstalled KDE Connect but the kdeconnectd service is still not installed. Any idea why?

Perhaps it needs systemd? Try booting with that.

From the Wiki:

When the GRUB screen is displayed at the very beginning of the boot process, click on Advanced options… and select to use systemd. Use MX Boot Options to make this the default.

Works for me in SysVinit (however in KDE Plasma and firewall off)

Maybe some dependency not pulled it on when in Xfce?

I still have this exact same nasty issue and haven't figured out where is kdeconnectd ...

I only found in my system:

Code: Select all

/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libexec/kdeconnectd
When i try to run it:

Code: Select all

$ /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libexec/kdeconnectd
