I think it might have something to do with the liquorix/xanmod kernels.

I installed the Debian 6.6.8 kernel from the popular apps tab and I have no problem switching to a tty session.

Correct. Still doesn't pin down where the issue lies but if it really bothers someone running those kernels, they can use Debian's latest kernel without issue.

Maybe any of you installs the init 3.08 and tests with Liq + Uefi + SysV :D

I've been using the above one: simply sudo make (and) sudo make install

You can use the gui if you like... (check the 3: initscripts..., sysv... )

While looking through my syslog, I keep coming across this section which correlates when I was switching to a tty while booted to sys-v on my UEFI machine.
There seems to be a lot of these entries, probably when I was testing. Odd that it's setting the console to 320x90 which of course my monitor doesn't support.
