Deactivated IPv4 and only had IPv6 activated. Not possible to open a website or email using wired or wifi connection. Seems IPv6 does not work at all. However, I do see that IP address are assigned when I run the below command. Is this expected?

Code: Select all

$ ip address
1: lo: <LOOPBACK,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN group default qlen 1000
    link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00

There are a few things at play here.

First, I dont think the issue is really IPv6 - I think its up the chain... even if your router hands you an ipv6 address... it does NOT mean that that will work properly. Your upstream routers may or may not work ipv6 properly and not all devices will handle them.

Second, my experience is that your in a half world with ipv6. There are several different strategies that ISP's take to make it all work.. And then you have THEIR bridges and translations to contend with. The result is a VERY poor adoption of ipv6.

Your much better to turn it off if your experiencing issues or slow networking - imo ! Someday... it will be 'real' .. but it certainly is not real for everyone at this time.
