Greetings my excellent friends,
I have a new weird thing for you, maybe you can help me with some tips.
The problem is that I can't access smb from Double Commander. I know you are gonna say...this is not an MX problem ! ...but hear me out :
1. First I downloaded a fresh copy of DC - doublecmd-1.0.11.gtk2.x86_64.tar.xz from here : https://sourceforge.net/p/doublecmd/wiki/Download/
2.1 On my bare metal when trying to access an IP from Dolphin it works :
2.2 But from DC I get this error
3. Tried it on Virtualbox - MX KDE - I get the same error
4. Tried it on Virtualbox - Linux Mint - Cinnamon - it works .... why ?

Re: MX / KDE / Double Commander / SMB share
doublecmd probably doesn't know about smb:// it needs a plugin for that, see this https://doublecmd.h1n.ru/viewtopic.php?t=840
We have doublecmd in our repos, there's also a doublecmd-plugins package...

Re: MX / KDE / Double Commander / SMB share
Looks like a KDE specific issue ?
Double Commander (DC) network capabilities rely on a proper implementation and installation of the gnome gio/gvfs framework.
On MX-XFCE and MINT-Cinnamon or -Xfce, everything you need is installed OOTB: gio, gvfs-fuse, gigolo and seahorse to store the Network-Logins
Ooops,
sorry, gigolo has to be installed by user on both MX and MINT (but is only a goodie, not really needed for DC)
AFAIK - KDE uses its own implementation called 'kio'? That may be the reason, why it does not work for you?

attached a screenshot of DC v1.1.2 appimage running under MX23.1-XFCE
for latest releases of DC appimages, always check ... https://github.com/doublecmd/doublecmd/tags ... all of the v.1.1.x (1.1.7 beta is latest) worked for me like a charm.

Thank you, I use this : https://doublecmd.sourceforge.io/site/eng/snapshots.php
If I remember correctly this used to work in MX KDE 19, but that was a loooong time ago.

Re: MX / KDE / Double Commander / SMB share
YEP - BUT: this are IIRC always the latest alpha-development nightly-snapshots by alexx2000. There *MAY* be some broken functionality, depending on day of creation~FLOW~ wrote: Fri Dec 15, 2023 9:15 am Thank you, I use this : https://doublecmd.sourceforge.io/site/eng/snapshots.php

Re: MX / KDE / Double Commander / SMB share
That's why I tried in my example with the stable versions from here : https://sourceforge.net/p/doublecmd/wiki/Download/l0dr3 wrote: Fri Dec 15, 2023 9:22 amYEP - BUT: this are IIRC always the latest alpha-development nightly-snapshots by alexx2000.
