Applications,(for example Chromium), continually need to be re-installed. And "Don't Start me, on KDE CONNECT! ufw, "WILL NOT ALLOW RULE TO BE ADDED, TO ALLOW KDE CONNECT!, Always available before! and it continues.

OK.

Normally the best one that (almost always) solves such "random" / unknown freezes is to take the rams out, then re-seat.

I didn't suggest that as the first thing as it's a new machine and for there were errors..

Whatever.. this solved such issues "so many times" even mem-test showed everything was fine therefore I began skipping the mem-test suggestion.

And, yes, even when they were already not loose, looked tight etc..

Shortly, if you can, just take them out, then re-seat.

@Wolfy666

Start your own thread and include your QSI. It can get really confusing when we are trying to diagnose and solve a problem and an interloper pops in with a similar but, somewhat different, problem slips in.
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

I think that at this point you should try another distro. We need to know if the problem repeats. If it doesn't then we will know that the problem is limited to MX. If it does repeat, then you are in the "hardware is too new" situation and may have to revert to Windows 11 while MX and Linux in general catches up. Linux generally lags about a year behind Windows in hardware compatibility.

Yes, I think, that's what I will do even if I quite like MX.

We hope that you will return, but the bottom line is that you need a working computer.

Installed this morning the good old Linux mint (xfce) and so far so good. I'll keep MX on my laptop and maybe return in a while to try again on my desktop.

If MX is still there, maybe you try how it is when booted with systemd ...

Edit: Oh, you already did that from the very beginning: init=/lib/systemd/systemd :)

If you like only, we can compare, when on Mint:

Code: Select all
