libimobiledevice?

#1 Post by Kelvin »

Hello everyone,

After several failed attempts I finally got libimobiledevice installed and working, it shows the DCIM directory. I was hoping that I would be able to copy files, music, audiobooks as well as photos to and from my iphone. Can anyone confirm that I should be able to do this? If so any suggestions how to, I cannot seem to find any good details on how use libimobiledevice.

TIA,

Kelvin

Since it's in the default repos, "failed attempts" raises some questions. How did you install it, and is it the stock version, and what Iphone do you have?
MXPI = MX Package Installer
QSI = Quick System Info from menu
The MX Test repository is mostly backports; not the same as Debian testing

Hello,

I first attempted to just connect iphone via usb, had no luck. a friend mentioned libimobiledevice to me, I then attempted to install from their website instructions, thus my early failed attempts.

Just prior to my original post I came across iDevice on MXLinux site. I found it in the repos. I had no luck then either, maybe due to my previous attempts. I then did a clean install of MX-23.1 “Libretto, installed iDevice from repro, while I could not get iDeviceMounter to mount my phone I did have access to phones DCIM folder.

I since booted with systemd and have had more success. I have a "Documents on Kelvin’s iPhone" folder, it list many folders but I cannot open them. When I launch iDeviceMounter and mount I get a new Thunar window with different folders.

I still don't see the audiobooks on my phone, this is one of my primary items that I want to be able to move between my phone and laptop.

any suggestions appreciated.

iPhone Xs, iOS 15.3.1
