And after pressing FN and F6, the desktop appears what means the the video card is working with that kernel.Otherwise the screen would remain black. I don t understand why I ve to press the FN button to see the desktop,seems very strange.
And what seems even more strange to me is that iin the grub-customizer, only kernel 4.19 is listed.

Hi, i had a lot of ACER Laptops over the years, almost always, the FN-F6 key combo was the 'Display Brightness' (aka: Backlight) ON/OFF Switch

So - maybe your settings for 'Brightness' or 'Brightness Reduction' are wrong (either the timing or reduction level set to '0') ?

You can check this in XFCE under 'Settings|Power Manager|Display' ... 'Brightness'.

My Aspire V5 which dates from 2012 (roughly the same era as your Acer) uses the Fn + right and left arrow keys combo as brightness controls. There's also evidence that on some Acers of that age, that the brightness keys can be inverted. Try pressing Fn and then hold down the left arrow key and see if the screen comes up.

I don't know this stuff or that laptop and you (plural) probably know this, so just mentioning, but my laptop's bios has the ability to enable toggling of the "media keys" via "fn-esc".

Possibly theirs has something similar - -yea, you already know this.

If just pressing once or twice is enough (rather than holding the key or pressing many times) it may be the key(s) to change (switch bw.) display output.

first of all, thanks to all for your help.
After 2 years, I thought now that is time for a fresh installation with mxlinux 23. Apart from that I ve newer versions of the most progs.
Till now, mxlinux 23 is starting without any probs.
