maybe for some enhanced security:
as far as i understand in MX there is a very easy way to start important apps more security-jailed:
in menu/system click Firetools, and when the startpanel pops up start firefox per double-click

Re: firefix virus download
I always set the download location to read only ..Firefox can be set to clear cache upon exit although i run firefox in ram so nothing is written to disk..To do any harm it would need root permissions to run.
Re: firefix virus download
I know that there are extensions that do this (maybe some browsers?) that would make this much easier and I'm almost obsessed with it, but notice these two gear box items in my bookmarks – smack dab in the middle for easy access.
Left one with "C" for cookies, and one without a name (gearbox only) for Clear browsing data > Advanced - - with many boxes checked.

The screenshot is on Brave, a Chromium based browser.
Cheers!

Re: firefix virus download
imo... the best method is to have FF set to clear cache, cookies ant history at exit. And then the discipline to close ALL firefox windows at least every X hrs. (I personally do around 3hrs or 6 websites, which ever comes first ;-/ )
*QSI = Quick System Info from menu (Copy for Forum)
*MXPI = MX Package Installer
*Please check the solved checkbox on the post that solved it.
*Linux -This is the way!

I believe these settings are enabled by default on Librewolf, a Firefox fork. Either one works well, but as mentioned earlier in the thread, you can install and use firejail with a --private argument which will prevent the firefox process from making any changes to the disk.CharlesV wrote: Fri Oct 27, 2023 9:52 pm imo... the best method is to have FF set to clear cache, cookies ant history at exit. You can use Bleachbit from the repos to clear Firefox and many other browser caches.
Use caution when deleting any system-level caches, though.

I also use the FF extension "Cookie AutoDelete", so that all unnecessary cookies are removed as soon as a tab is closed.CharlesV wrote: Fri Oct 27, 2023 9:52 pm imo... the best method is to have FF set to clear cache, cookies ant history at exit.
