Help for Current Versions of MX
When asking for help, use Quick System Info from MX Tools. It will be properly formatted using the following steps.
1. Click on Quick System Info in MX Tools
2. Right click in your post and paste.

Virtualbox Problems

Having problems installing virtualbox suddenly. I was using mx package manager and got this error toward the end of a failed install.
Errors were encountered while processing:

I just tried it on the same laptop with a fresh install and got the same error. What broke it?

I'd de-install the one from the repo and install the one from
https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads
and the extensions
https://download.virtualbox.org/virtual ... ox-extpack

It sounds like something happened to your vboxusers group. Go into MX User Manager and check under Add/Remove Groups and check it there.

You should have to vbox groups:
vboxsf
vboxusers

And make sure your user is in both. (Group Membership tab - choose your user. )

You do need to be in the vboxusers group (/etc/group), but the vboxfs group is for the guest Linux operating system and should be populated automatically in MX guests.

..and don't forget to reboot after adding your user to the groups
