SSD not detected byMx , detected by Windows7

#1 Post by osenon »

I just add a SSD PNY -120G which is well identified by the Bios but impossible to boot : "THIRD MASTER DISK ERROR" during boot
Also one time I add a such error :"SIS 630 compatible bus not found "
PIlot for storage system is SIS 180 (viewed in Win7 peripheral data "
SSD is connected with SATA connection
I can boot only when SSD is shown " not installed" in Bios
In Windows7 the disk (named G) is shown and ok ( partition ntfs )
here data on my system ( data by AntiX installed but same matter with Mx Live

I think that you need to acquire the adaptor that I suggested in your other thread:
viewtopic.php?t=77484&start=10
and that your primary HDD needs to be jumpered to "Master With Slave Present" and that the adaptor needs to be connected to the slave connector on the primary's ribbon cable. Once that's done, your new SSD needs to be set up as an extended partition. Or, if you have a CD/DVD drive in your system, it should be attached to the slave connector on the primary's ribbon cable so the the second IDE channel can be used by the adaptor.The hardware that we use today, with a few exceptions, was designed to be used with Windows. As I noted in your other thread, the manual for your motherboard clearly states that the SATA ports are reserved for a RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks). It's safe to assume that your motherboard was designed to take advantage of that functionality in Windows. Which explains why, in your current setup, Windows can see the drive but MX can't. You also need to keep this in mind --> that a piece of hardware works on Windows is no guarantee that it will also work in Linux.
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.
