How to set default wallpaper for new users [Solved]

In other Linux distros, in order to change the default background for new user, I used to edit the file

/etc/skel/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc

modifying or adding the following lines

Code: Select all

[Wallpaper]
Image=file://<absolute path to image>

but in MX Linux 23 KDE this solution doesn't seem to work.
What else can I try?

I believe skel is the correct area, but someone should have a better understanding and will chime in shortly.

the debian defaults include a wallpaper in /usr/share/plasma/wallpapers/org.kde.image/contents/config/Main.xml

we we modify that file.
