Glade application missing down drop menu text

#1 Post by skallal »

I've just installed the GTK Glade application my on MX 23 Xfce system. However many of the drop down menus are empty. Notice the screenshot below. Right where is says GtkBin is where the mouse is hovering. If I move the mouse the text disappears.

Also tried this same package in a VM with MX Linux Xfce and have the same problem. However on a Debian 12 VM the desktop populates the text just fine. So I'm obviously missing a package or config setting on my system. A Google search reveals nothing though I'm probably not entering the right search terms.

I'm new to GTK programming though I have decades of programming in MS environments.

Here's my system info:

change your system theme. looks like white text on white background. that happens sometimes with some themes.

Thanks for the idea!!!

Changing the theme does work. However I don't care for the fix. The settings in MX Tweak Theme tab is MX Light from the Theme Options list. Is there a way to apply a specific theme to a specific app?

Also tried the a flatpak version of the same app which works great. Except it runs with this crazy command line:

Code: Select all

/usr/bin/flatpak run --branch=stable --arch=x86_64 --command=glade --file-forwarding org.gnome.Glade @@ %F @@
My favorite code editor VS Code has a settings.json file I use to launch .glade files externally in the Glade editor. I much prefer this command line below to the one above when installed from flatpak:

Code: Select all

/usr/bin/glade
Again any way tweak the theme for one app? Or tweak the theme itself?
