sudo apt update

to refresh the package lists first?
Thanks for the tip, but sudo apt update does create the same 3 line error message as in my message found above, mentioning stuff about a missing release file. I have tried NOT selecting all the AHS updates, but to no avail. Even without selecting all these firmware updates I still get the same error message. I can not update any other software either right now. Not even Firefox...

Code: Select all

$ sudo apt update
[sudo] password for ploppie:

Hit:2 http://deb.debian.org/debian bullseye InRelease
Hit:3 https://mirror.koddos.net/mxlinux/mx/repo bullseye InRelease

Reading package lists... Done
E: The repository 'http://deb.debian.org/debian bullseye-security Release' does not have a Release file.
N: Updating from such a repository can't be done securely, and is therefore disabled by default.
N: See apt-secure(8) manpage for repository creation and user configuration details.

Open MX Repo Manager > Debian repos and uncheck bullseye-security. Then run sudo apt update again.
This is my Fluxbox . There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My Fluxbox is my best friend. It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my Fluxbox is useless. Without my Fluxbox, I am useless.

Thank you asqwerth, for pointing that out to me. In my haste, I must have missed that advice. I tried it and it succeeded. Great! Much obliged!
Thanks to siamhie as well!

I am, as you must have recognized by now :) still quite a newbie at MX Linux. I love this OS, but I havent yet come to know it very well.

Final question, since I wanna be sure that my Update settings are correct now, could you all have a look at the screenshots I made. Are these the correct settings?

Are these now the correct Debian repos settings .jpg
Are these now the correct Discover Settings.jpg
Are these now the correct Individual Sources settings.jpg

Instead of posting screenshot images, which can't be text-searchable, please post here the text output of this command:

Code: Select all

inxi -r
You can compare your generated list with the one here:

https://mxlinux.org/uncategorized/repos-mx-21/

Any line in the above list that starts with a "#" symbol is commented out, ie disabled, and won't show up in any inxi -r list
Desktop: Intel i5-4460, 16GB RAM, Intel integrated graphics
Clevo N130WU-based Ultrabook: Intel i7-8550U (Kaby Lake R), 16GB RAM, Intel integrated graphics (UEFI)
ASUS X42D laptop: AMD Phenom II, 6GB RAM, Mobility Radeon HD 5400

Thanks again asqwerth. My above settings seems to match perfectly with the link (standard settings) you provided.

My problem with the update issue was probably caused by me somehow mistakingly selecting the AHS repos, (while not needing it) combined with an error caused by a mirror software site that was lagging in providing up to date software for this AHS repo.

I now have learned that the AHS repo is not the standard setting. I have a 10 year old Thinkpad, so I am not in any need for advanced hardware support and I have read that these newest drivers havent yet all been tested as rigorously either, so it might only complicate things for older computers if one chooses the AHS repos. Please correct me if I am wrong in any of these statements. I am just a newbie and trying to navigate my way through this wonderful MX Linux OS! 9_9
