when i connect an external drive i always have to go into thunar and click on it before i can access it. Like the screenshot here:
https://unix.stackexchange.com/question ... running-sy i have 'mount removable drives ...' enabled. I'm not sure what else i should do to ensure the external drive is accessible in the terminal when i attach it without having to go into thunar and click on it. thanks

thanks, but how :) i checked the help and it doesn't say:
https://mxlinux.org/wiki/help-files/help-disk-manager/
i have another computer with mx linux and the disk is immediately accessible after connecting. I opened disk manager on that computer and it is no different to how it appears on the computer where it doesn't become immediately accessible

The ones you want automounted, put a checkmark in the enable box.

interesting, it isn't enabled on the computer where it is immediately accessible. The quick system info for that computer follows. I will enable it though thanks
