SOLVED: Mouse keys without numeric keypad [Solved]

I've installed MX KDE on a Media Centre computer. I'd like to operate it with a FLIRC, but there is no provision in FLIRC for sending numeric keypad keys.

Is there a way to operate a form of Mouse Keys without using Numeric Keypad keys — just other keys from anywhere on the keyboard? FLIRC does allow modifiers like CTRL, ALT, SHIFT etc.

Ho about a computer game controller? I saw an episode of the BBC panel show, QI, where it was mentioned that the U.S. navy is now using XBox controllers to run the periscopes in submarines because they are much cheaper and just as capable as the controllers that were originally spec'd.

I have something I can control it with, but I want to integrate it onto the same OneForAll remote as I have the TV, amplifier, bluray etc.

I already have the FLIRC to convert infra-red signals to keystrokes. What I need is a way to convert some keystrokes to mouse movements and clicks.

It's OK, I did some searching on the net, none of the hits were any use, but once on the Flirc site, I tried a search, and among a load of questions that hadn't been replied to, I found one that provided the answer, which hadn't turned up in an online search. As well as the Flirc GUI, there's also a command-line utility called flirc_util. That provided a means of setting keys not included in the GUI, you get the key codes from http://www.freebsddiary.org/APC/usb_hid_usages.php . At first it refused to run because "libreadline.so.6" was not present. I'd come across a similar problem before, so I tried making a symlink called libreadline.so.6 to libreadline.so.8, and it worked!

So now my issue will be making the onscreen keyboard pop up and go in response to a keypress. I'll ask if I can't find it out in a new thread.
