Background
working through adapting self and mx21 to a new computer
just installed liqorix 6.2.9-4 kernel
rapidly adapting to SysV or Systemd options
had a problem and the mouse cursor changed from my chosen option to one shown in the attached image
Does anyone know why? how? anything about the event?
I drew the object from memory into LO Draw package so it is a rough likeness really
Events leading to the auto change in mouse cursor:
switched on trying to boot from Hibernate in SysV kernel 6.2.9-4
seemed to hang (again more on this if needed)
rapidly prodded Ctrl-C Ctrl-G Ctrl-Q in mild panic
cursor changed - became fascinated in the event!
Interesting mouse cursor appeared during hanging boot from Hibernate

Re: Interesting mouse cursor appeared during hanging boot from Hibernate
I don't use KDE, so this is only an assumption, but it sounds like that in you managed to change the overall theme in your frenzied entering of keyboard shortcuts. You need to find the theme manager in KDE and change the theme back to the default.
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;
In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

That would be in System Settings under Appearance > Cursorsj2mcgreg wrote: Wed Apr 26, 2023 7:35 am I don't use KDE, so this is only an assumption, but it sounds like that in you managed to change the overall theme in your frenzied entering of keyboard shortcuts. Re: Interesting mouse cursor appeared during hanging boot from Hibernate
The mouse cursor swap was against a black screen with my selected cursor moving and behaving fine.
When the machine started again it has its usual cursor: oxygen blue
Nothing seems broken but I thought I should report the event

Re: Interesting mouse cursor appeared during hanging boot from Hibernate
Okay - I think the trigger is a hanging resume from Hibernate state.
The hanging resume seems associated with SysV version of 6.2.9-4 liquorix kernel
No key presses CtrlQ CtrlG CtrlC used at all.
The mouse cursor appeared as the one I chose in settings - oxygen blue - and changed to the one sketched out in the attachment
This time the resume was accompanied by a fair bit of spurious desktop imagery
Will probably return to Systemd variant of same kernel

Re: Interesting mouse cursor appeared during hanging boot from Hibernate
@Aronticuz
FYI – You like know this already, but hibernate is often discouraged in linux and the swap size should be at least the size of RAM if using hibernation.
Doesn't mean that this is the problem, and I'd assume that not having enough swap problems only occurs if you have more loaded in RAM than that which will be written to the swap during hibernation.
HTH

my guess is memory misreads or memory address misreads when resuming from hibernate.
I have had good luck with systemd variant - a fascinating time really @MXRobo
The thing is I can always reinstall everything and archived by personal data and usually by doing so learn more and more
My naive guess is that it starts and tries to lead up the desktop and Conkies but gets stuck there
