Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel

#1 Post by je55eah »

When istalling a new kernel with the MX package installer I see this error.

Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel
bad exit status: 2

for multiple modules, is this a problem I can or should fix?

There are some dkms packages that get rebuilt for each kernel. Newer versions of these are in the AHS repository along with the new kernels. Any of these dkms packages that you actually use should be updated. Ones that you don't can be removed.
Posting your Quick System Info will show us your hardware so we can tell which, if any you need for basic operation.
Others (virtualbox-dkms for example) will depend on whether you actually use the program.
HP Pavillion TP01, AMD Ryzen 3 5300G (quad core), Crucial 500GB SSD, Toshiba 6TB 7200rpm
Dell Inspiron 15, AMD Ryzen 7 2700u (quad core). Sabrent 500GB nvme, Seagate 1TB

It seems like I no longer have wifi after activating the new kernel.

Okay, that topic was about firefox, and I only mentioned this issue there because system report is here.

I apologize...

Does someone know which modules I need to fix and how?

This seems like a similar issue:
