MXBoot & MX Package Installer are not working

#1 Post by OskarMX »

Hi,
I'm running MX 21.04 very much standard with the Xfce environment. I normally update through the terminal, but I have found that none of the MX preset apps (MXBoot, MX Package Installer, MX Users, etc.) are not working. When clicking on them, nothing happens. Any suggestions on how to solve it?

Edited the version... :-) and added the system info.
I've also found that the Bluetooth software is also not working...

What happens in CLI when you run something like "sudo -E mx-packageinstaller"? Does it work then?
MX uses pkexec and policykit to start the programs from the menu. I see you are using systemd did you play with services and disabled that by any chance?

When I run the sudo -E mx-packageinstaller, it works.I modified to Systemd ages ago, and everithing has worked fine until recent dates. I am not aware of having disabled pkexec or policykit, at least intencionally....

Is "PolicyKit Authentication Agent" not checked in "Session and Startup" - "App. Autostart" tab ?

(.. If so, check it.)

Just "Session and Startup" from menu.

(Btw. you'll also see the Bluetooth entry there, check (mark) it, too)

Thanks. It's checked and in theory active.

Ok, then something's missing/broken regarding permissions/ownerships.
