Mac Mini shows question mark symbol during boot after installation

#1 Post by John »

I did a successful installation of MX Linux using the MX Linux Live USB method but after rebooting my Mac Mini it gets stuck at the beginning displaying a question mark. I know this has to do with the Mac Mini not finding the correct boot directory to launch MX Linux so wondering if anyone knows how to fix this? My specs and installation method are listed below.

Mac Mini - 2006
CPU: Dual Core Intel Core2 T7200
Boot 32 bit UEFI
GRUB installed on MBR
Drive was wiped completely, formatted to EXT4 prior to installation of MX Linux (32 bit) with a 5GB root directory as it requested

Note: Prior to installation of MX Linux I had Zorin Linux 32-bit installed and booting correctly

Would it work if you install GRUB onto the ESP, instead of MBR. E.g. try select auto-install entire disk in UEFI mode, b/c it may not want to boot from MBR if the default boot mode was UEFI.
