KDE: update process remains at 49%
Re: KDE: update process remains at 49%
If you have MXPI icon in your panel it will turn green when new updates are available and you can click on it and install them, ignoring Discover. When the updates complete the MXPI icon will turn transparent, (wireframe), if that is the icon set you have chosen, and the panel Discover icon will disappear. Once you get the hang of it, it is pretty simple and straightforward.

Re: KDE: update process remains at 49%
Thank you. This is a great hint. Sounds quite user-friendly.
But not sure if I understand you right.
Are you trying to say, that this icon will turn into green, when updates are available:
Or:
How can I bring the MXPI icon into the right side of the KDE panel?
In Xfce the green paket has the command "/usr/bin/apt-notifier-unhide-Icon": I have not found it in KDE.
I have never seen the green package in KDE. How can I bring it into the panel? Thank you.

Re: KDE: update process remains at 49%
There is no mxpi update icon in the panel. There is some confusion on richb's part.
The update app and icon are called mx-updater and apt-notifier. Unfortunately they are not installed by default in MX KDE.
You probably could update with mxpi but it's primarily a package installer and management app.

Re: KDE: update process remains at 49%
This is the the preference window for MXPI. If you have selected the set I have chosen the icon remains as a wireframe when no updates are available and turns green when they are. Notice that "use transparent interior for no-updates wireframe is also chosen". Other options are also available. I have not attempted to move the icon in the system tray.

The confusion is that I have installed mx-updater into my KDE system and forgot it was not installed by default.asqwerth wrote: Sat Sep 24, 2022 4:08 pm There is no mxpi update icon in the panel. There is some confusion on richb's part.

Edit: that is apt-notifier

Re: KDE: update process remains at 49%
This only relates to customisation elements like icons (not specific to KDE but many icon sets are found in KDE store), themes for plasma desktop, sddm, window decoration, kvantum. Also plasma widgets.According to richb, it may be that under certain circumstances there are KDE specific updates that are necessary, that cannot be installed via MXPI
These are all found in KDE store and could be manually downloaded and installed/updated. But Discover does provide an easy way to install/update the stuff from KDE store.
I generally don't bother to update the decorative plasma elements i have already installed.
And I manually download and save icon sets separately because I use them for all my distros.

Mxpi is already installed in mx KDE. It's mxupdater that is not.richb wrote: Sat Sep 24, 2022 4:20 pmThe confusion is that I have installed MXPI into my KDE system and forgot it was not installed by default.asqwerth wrote: Sat Sep 24, 2022 4:08 pm There is no mxpi update icon in the panel. Re: KDE: update process remains at 49%
added an edit to my last post it is mx-updater that I added. And the reason was i found Discover awkward and not as reliable.asqwerth wrote: Sat Sep 24, 2022 4:24 pmMxpi is already installed in mx KDE. Re: KDE: update process remains at 49%
Thank you both. I got it.
Cool that mx-updater not only works with Xfce but also with KDE.

Re: KDE: update process remains at 49%
Obviously it seems to be that Discover itself is not the basic problem, because Discover works in KDEneon without any problems!asqwerth wrote: Tue Sep 20, 2022 9:44 am I knew there was a reason I didn't really trust Discover with serious tasks ....
In my post https://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=71839, concerning this problem, fehlix gave a very interesting answer:
I try to translate: "This seems to be in connection with Discover. There are three/four files with little MX adaptions, Debian would like to replace with newer versions, possibly the system is waiting in the background for confirmation."Scheint mit Discover zusammenzuhängen.
Es gibt drei/vier Dateien mit kleinen MX Anpassungen , die Debian gern mit seinen neueren Versionen ersetzten möchte, da wartet es möglicher weise im Hintergrund auf Bestätigung und hängt.
This sounds rather that it's a problem of adaption to MX-system.
Cheers
