@greevous
Your QSI shows that you are using a VGA connection:

Code: Select all

Monitor-1: VGA1 res: 1920x1080 hz: 60 dpi: 102 size: 480x270mm (18.9x10.6") diag: 551mm (21.7")
However, the manual for your desktop motherboard, which can be found here:
https://download.asrock.com/Manual/H61M-DGS.pdf

states that the 1920 x 1080 resolution requires a DVI interface, Get yourself a DVI cable like this one:

https://www.canadacomputers.com/product ... _id=108107

and your problem should be solved.
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

Code: Select all

sudo nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf
Just uncomment (remove the # at the beginning (only) ) of the line:

Code: Select all

# Option "AccelMethod" "uxa" #could also use the default "sna"
Save, close ( Ctrl + X , then Y ) , reboot, try.

Thank you, Huckleberry!
The "uxa" method helped. There is no flicker now. The mx21 5.10 and antix 4.19 cores with the Intel driver work the same way.

@j2mcgreg Thank you for your advice! I'll think about it.

Sorry for the extremely late reply. My dad was very sick and sadly he passed away. Been dealing with a lot of stuff these days. Anyways I managed to try the solution posted by Huckleberry Finn and it worked. But I lost the ability to change the screen brightness. I was messing with xandr and I messed up. I thought I was changing the brightness of the led screen but instead it was changing the brightness of the image I think. Can someone tell me what were the default values of xandr? And also it would be nice to be able to change the brightness of the lcd led. But one thing at a time. At least the glitches were solved so we´re getting somewhere.

... Nothing to lose to try the 5.17 kernel with 2 clicks from Popular Apps tab in MX Package Installer.

(Also, though they're not the same cards, here's a similar one that didn't work with 4.19 and 5.10 , but only with 5.12 (the newest one that day) )

Hello everyone,

Sorry to revive this old thread. I had some free time now and I found an old hard drive to experiment with the new MX Linux. I installed it to the hard drive. I'm still experiencing video issues. So far I tried messing with the 20-intel-conf. Tried uxa and sna method and I'm getting graphical issues and I can't change the lcd brightness. Here's what the 20-intel-confd says now:
Section "Device"
Identifier "Intel Graphics"
Driver "intel"
Option "AccelMethod" "uxa"
Option "TearFree" "true"
EndSection

I don't know what else to try since I'm no expert. Could it be that this laptop is too old for the newer KDE? The issue is not present at all in MX 19.3.
