Problems with MX 21 and 21.1 (KDE Edition, 64 bit ISO).
Problems with MX 21 and 21.1 (KDE Edition, 64 bit ISO).
I downloaded the MX 21.1 KDE 64 bit ISO, transferred it to a 32GB USB 3.0 Drive with the latest version of Rufus using the DD mode/option, booted it with the "toram" boot option, used KDE Partition Manager a bit (created a GPT Partition Table on a Hard Disk, made a 512 MiB FAT32 EFI Partition, and a 512 MiB EXT4 Partition), then opened the main KDE Desktop Environment menu, looked for Konsole and clicked on it, however the Konsole icon would just appear on the KDE Desktop Environment Bar and then dissapear, without Konsole being opened.
Apart from that: when I downloaded the MX 21 (not 21.1) KDE Edition 64 bit ISO for the first time the graphical installer included in that ISO came with a built-in Partition Encryption option, I used it and it worked... Then used the USB Drive that I had transferred the ISO to for something else, so when I had or wanted to reinstall MX 21 KDE Edition 64 Bit again I downloaded the ISO again (from mxlinux.org), transferred it to the same USB Drive with DD, however when I started the installer there was no Partition Encryption option anymore... And someone on the mxlinux.org forums lied saying that a MX 21 KDE Edition 64 bit ISO with a Partition Encryption option built-in in the Graphical Installer had never existed.

They obviously confused: It's 64bit only, 32bit never existed :)KV-2_1939 wrote: Wed Jun 22, 2022 1:31 pm...someone on the mxlinux.org forums lied saying that a MX 21 KDE Edition 64 bit ISO had never existed.

AFAIK, ability to install onto encrypted luks-partition was not removed from the MX Installer.KV-2_1939 wrote: Wed Jun 22, 2022 1:31 pm ... when I downloaded the MX 21 (not 21.1) KDE Edition 64 bit ISO for the first time the graphical installer included in that ISO came with a built-in Partition Encryption option, I used it and it worked... Not sure what you have downloaded from where; the download links available on mxlinux.org are all pointing
to MX-21.1. Also you may consider to digital verify the downloaded iso with MX-Linux provided digital signature,
to make sure you got a original ISO and not some faked one's.

I'm sorry, I missed some words, that sentence was not complete... Now I've edited the main post. Here is the full sentence:Huckleberry Finn wrote: Wed Jun 22, 2022 1:49 pmThey obviously confused: It's 64bit only, 32bit never existed :)KV-2_1939 wrote: Wed Jun 22, 2022 1:31 pm...someone on the mxlinux.org forums lied saying that a MX 21 KDE Edition 64 bit ISO had never existed.

Hello fehlix, I believe that some internet connections in the city I'm living are "manipulated" in some way... I've downloaded MX-21 KDE Edition multiple times at home and only the first time that I downloaded it it had the Partition Encryption option built-in in the Graphical Installer... The last time that I downloaded the new MX-21.1 KDE Edition ISO was at a cybercoffee, and that time I didn't check the included Graphical Installer to check if there was a built-in Partition Encryption option or not because I wanted to use Konsole for something but it wouldn't open...fehlix wrote: Wed Jun 22, 2022 2:40 pmAFAIK, ability to install onto encrypted luks-partition was not removed from the MX Installer.KV-2_1939 wrote: Wed Jun 22, 2022 1:31 pm ... when I downloaded the MX 21 (not 21.1) KDE Edition 64 bit ISO for the first time the graphical installer included in that ISO came with a built-in Partition Encryption option, I used it and it worked... I don't know if there is a point in checking the MD5 or SHA256/512 since I have always downloaded the MX-21 (and the last time the MX-21.1) KDE Edition ISO from the mxlinux.org site.
Kind regards.

I can assure you that the installer on the KDE isos is identical to the installer on the other isos, and antiX as well. the encryption options remain in place.

Can you create the sha256sum from the downloaded iso,KV-2_1939 wrote: Sat Jun 25, 2022 1:35 pm I don't know if there is a point in checking the MD5 or SHA256/512 since I have always downloaded the MX-21 (and the last time the MX-21.1) KDE Edition ISO from the mxlinux.org site.
whit running this command within the terminal opened within the folder the iso is in:
Code: Select all
sha256sum MX-21.1_KDE_x64.iso
Thanks

Yes, I can confirm this as I installed MX Linux 21.1 KDE with both / and /home setup on encrypted partitions.dolphin_oracle wrote: Sat Jun 25, 2022 4:35 pm I can assure you that the installer on the KDE isos is identical to the installer on the other isos, and antiX as well. the encryption options remain in place.

That ISO is at a cybercoffee computer, however I don't remember which one to go and check the sha256.

If you cannot even verify which ISO you are using, we cannot really help you.
Post maybe a screenshot from the installer that might give us an idea what you are talking about (maybe you are overlooking the option somehow).
It would also be useful if you give us the version of the installer and maybe a log from /var/log/minstall.log
